Susan was born in London, Ontario. She attended SirAdamBeckSecondary School, LondonTeachers’ College and the University of Western Ontario, where she majored in English. Susan taught elementary school for the London Board of Education and the Thames Valley Board until June 2004. Since her retirement she has been able to devote more time to her family, to her painting and to travel. She currently lives in London with her husband Brian.

Images and their power to evoke intensely personal and emotional responses are of interest to me. In my paintings, primarily of landscapes, I attempt to convey the spirit of place, using it to connect, not only to the world around me, but also to the viewers of my work. I work in watercolour because its capacity to surprise, delight, and intrigue me is infinite.
