Beverley Main

Biography

My passion for painting began about 10 years ago when a friend encouraged me to attend a Chinese Painting Class with Mr. Lee at the London Public Library.

Since then I have taken classes with Sheila Griffith Harris and also numerous workshops at the Southampton School. Presently I am enjoying classes with Johnnene Maddison.

My painting reflects nature in both Canada and Costa Rica.

In Canada I am inspired by the beauty of what is around us, and the challenge of arranging colours and textures to enhance that beauty. My medium here is mostly watercolours. I am a recent member of The Brush and Palette Club, and I expect my paintings to be exhibited in their Annual Spring Art Show.

In Costa Rica my paintings are mostly acrylics. For three years Galleria "Mar Y Sol" in Tamarindo has exhibited and sold my artwork at their gallery. These paintings reflect a more tropical mood and my subjects vary from butterflies to iguanas and lily ponds to seascapes. Our local art group "Gauguin's Girls" meets weekly to paint and exhibit our successes.
